Impressions and Possible Conclusions
CID's are a short-duration lightning that tends to
occur at heights of 6 to 9 kilometers above ground
level (4–7 miles) within the storm, in close proximity
to the strongest updrafts and the densest pockets of
water and ice found at those heights.
We still don't know why some severe storms (supercells) produce so few and other less severe storms have a larger number of CIDs. All we can do is collect data and look for weather event correlation's.
