Pastors offer happier
Thanksgiving -- Food

GainesvilleSun - November 25, 2002
About 300 people received boxes of food.

The event began with a religious service that drew hundreds to the plaza. Many of the churches had booths set up. Meanwhile, John Deane of Warriors for Christ Inc. did his usual Sunday charity - feeding homeless people hotdogs or sandwiches.

Deane's entire ministry is feeding the homeless. He said the give-away of Thanksgiving boxes was a great way to help with the holiday but added he hopes Gainesville residents remember that many people are in need of a hot meal year round.

"Every Sunday I come here or to St. Francis House to feed the homeless," Deane said. "This event is great, but I just hope people see that I am on the front lines doing what God called me to do helping homeless people get off the street, and I can't do it without the support of the community."
