LIDIA CLIMATOLOGY

Please note most lightning signatures are terrain dependent,
and vary much across the nation and the world, so one
must look at local geography and orographic affects
as well as the type of general airmass, and type of
storms one sees in their local area and build their
databases based on this data. Here is some base
data for our study area:

The LIDIA Domain covers in Tennesee - Hardin, Wayne, and
Lawrence Counties. In Mississippi - Alcorn, Prentiss,
Itawamba, Tishomingo. In Alabama, Lauderdale, Colbert,
Franklin, Marion, Lawrence.

The average duration or lifetime of a severe thunderstorm in
the LIDIA Domain is 3.5 hours.
