Subject: Info on UF/IFAS Hacking in 1985?
Prof. Hollinger,
Do you remember anything about a hacking to a UF IFAS computer back in 1985
by five 20-something students at the UF?
I'm trying to find out what happened - beyond the limited information in the
below Google archives of Gainesville Sun articles from September 10, 1985:
'Five accused of illegally tapping into UF computers' - Page 1A

'Data Chiefs believe UF boss computers hardened to hackers' - Page 1B

I found out from rumors that they were convicted, that they'd had to perform
something like 200+ hours of community service (each? ...or combined?), that
their computers were confiscated and kept, that their sentences were
"deferred".
No information on what specifically each count was for each person, what the
storyline was on what happened, specifically, or what specifically happened
to them.
Do you know of someplace online where I could go to view the records on
something like that?
Thanks,
Todd Sherman

Interviewed one of the students? Or interviewed people about the students?
LOL. :)
You don't know them personally, do you?
Have to go feed my gf a late lunch, right now. Can I try to call later?

Do you have an email certificate? Do you know how to do encryption?
